Plagiarism and AI Policy

Plagiarism Policy

Manuscripts submitted to the Jurnal Pariwisata Tawangmangu will be screened for plagiarism and self-plagiarism using Turnitin: Plagiarism Detection Software and starting from Volume 1 Issue 1. Depending on the level of originality and similarity to other documents, the managing editor will decide whether to reject the manuscript outright, contact the author for further clarification, or proceed to the peer-review process.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
JUPARITA (Jurnal Pariwisata Tawangmangu) is committed to upholding academic integrity, transparency, and high standards of publication ethics. Adhering to official guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the following rules govern the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grammarly, and similar tools) in the writing, peer-reviewing, and editing of manuscripts submitted to JUPARITA:

1. Authorship Criteria
AI Cannot Be an Author: AI tools and generative AI models cannot be listed as an author or co-author.

Rationale: AI lacks the legal capacity to assign copyright, approve publication licenses, take accountability for manuscript contents, or manage potential conflicts of interest.

Human Accountability: All listed authors must meet human authorship criteria and accept full legal and scientific responsibility for the published work.

2. Author Responsibilities and Transparency
Full Responsibility: Authors are fully accountable for the originality, factual accuracy, data validity, citation integrity, and freedom from plagiarism of their entire manuscript, including any AI-assisted sections.

Mandatory Disclosure: Authors using AI or AI-assisted tools during manuscript preparation (e.g., for translation, copyediting, language refinement, brainstorming, or data/code analysis) must transparently declare this usage within the manuscript.

Scope of Disclosure: The statement must specify the name of the tool/model, version number, and exact purpose of its application.

Prohibited AI Practices: AI must not be used to fabricate data (data fabrication), manipulate scientific images (image manipulation), or produce non-existent/hallucinated references (hallucinated citations).

3. Ethics for Editors and Peer Reviewers
Confidentiality: Reviewers and Editors are strictly prohibited from uploading unpublished manuscripts into third-party generative AI platforms.

Intellectual Property Protection: Uploading submitted manuscripts to AI platforms breaches confidentiality, author privacy, and intellectual property rights.

Review Integrity: Reviewers must not rely on AI tools to generate peer-review reports or evaluation scores.
